Shannon Lust

Location: Alberta

Shannon is Cree and has wide-ranging experience working in the mental health, education, and social services sectors, specifically within Indigenous communities. Her Cree name is White Buffalo Woman, and she is a proud member of Bigstone Cree Nation. She is originally from Treaty 8 territory and now residing in Treaty 6. She holds a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and is a Certified Canadian Counsellor. Shannon has had the opportunity to learn from Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and other community members. She was awarded the Esquao Award in 2022 in the area of Children’s Future, as well as the
Aboriginal Role Model Award in 2018.

Shannon is driven to share what she has learned from both her perspectives as an Indigenous person and as a professional trained in Western education systems. She is passionate about supporting individuals and organizations to see things from a two-eyed perspective. Shannon believes in the power of walking in two worlds, bringing together both Indigenous and Western perspectives to create spaces where every person feels seen, heard, loved, and respected
