Paul Klostermaier-Starkewski

MSW, RSW

Location: Manitoba

Paul is a Registered Social Worker, holding a Master of Social Work degree, along with separate bachelor’s degrees in both Psychology and Anthropology. In addition to his work with CTRI, Paul works as a Social Work Clinician in the Lord Selkirk School Division, where he spends most of his time bringing a trauma-informed framework to providing clinical guidance to a large high school as well as in an alternative high school setting. He is also part of the Divisional Threat Assessment team and assisted in the development of a divisional crisis response policy and protocol. He provides instruction, support, and awareness to teachers, administration, school staff, as well as students and their parents on understanding how trauma affects students’ abilities to learn, and how school staff can be more supportive.

Paul believes in the power of human resiliency and the importance of building the capacity of teachers, paraprofessionals, and non-clinical workers because they all play a vital role in creating safe and trauma-informed learning environments. As a trainer, he brings stimulating stories and a down-to-earth style that promotes engagement and facilitates learning.
