Malaya is a Registered Social Worker with extensive experience across a variety of mental health issues. She is currently completing her PhD in Sociology, specializing in sexual violence prevention. Malaya has practiced in various capacities, including mental health counselling, program facilitation, community development, crisis and trauma response, and child and family advocacy. 

Malaya’s professional background shapes her approach to public education. She draws on this experience and knowledge to provide a safe space for participants to meaningfully learn, practice new skills, and engage in self-reflection. She has provided workshops on mental health, sexual violence prevention, and social justice issues across North America, Southeast Asia, and Southern Africa. She lectures for the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina and runs her own counselling and consulting business. 

Malaya is a passionate educator. She believes that continued learning is essential to serving people well, and that education can be both inspiring and transformative. Her workshops are engaging, practical, and interactive. She sees hope in the most difficult situations and orients her teaching toward change.
