As part of her professional career, Heather has firsthand experience working with individuals, groups, and communities. She holds a Master of Social Work degree, is a Registered Social Worker, and has been working in the field for close to 25 years.

Throughout her career, Heather has worked front-line with children, youth, and families, along with organizations, groups, and communities. Some of her more specific experiences have been supporting individuals and their families as they reenter their community after leaving correctional and/or medical facilities. She has also gained vast knowledge and skills in the areas of supporting people living with and through mental health crises and illness.

It is within Heather’s direct experiences that she has developed the trauma-informed skills needed to de-escalate potentially violent situations, including her relationship-based communication style and empathic nature. She is an energetic and engaging facilitator who strives to build relationships and incorporate humour into her work with all workshop participants.
