Asheley is Anishinaabe from Robinson Superior with extensive experience in trauma-informed care with Indigenous peoples. She holds a Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in Indigenous Trauma and Resiliency and is a Registered Social Worker. She has worked in various settings, including child welfare, crisis intervention, mental health and addictions, outreach work, program development, and political advocacy. She currently teaches at an Indigenous post-secondary school and runs a small private practice. Asheley applies a wholistic strength-based, person-centred approach in her work to utilize people’s inner strengths to enhance resiliency and build capacity within communities. She has a special passion for working with youth and young adults and is a strong advocate for ensuring that helpers apply a trauma-informed approach in their work, but also in how they care for themselves.

As a facilitator, Asheley uses lectures, group discussions, and experiential learning to foster an engaging environment that supports growth and learning. She strongly believes that healing occurs through authentic connection and empowerment. Asheley brings her lived experience and professional knowledge into her trainings, utilizing a two-eyed seeing approach to integrate Indigenous and Western knowledge.
