Connection is central to the work of helpers, teachers, and counsellors – skills to facilitate positive attachment go a long way toward achieving this goal. Healthy and flourishing attachment relationships are important throughout life because they lead to increased resilience. Early attachment patterns influence how children grow to engage with others and form adult relationships. Our first experiences of forming and maintaining relationships happen within the family context, but children and youth also experience attachment relationships with other adults in their lives including educators and caregivers. This interactive and experiential workshop will explore attachment theory, as well as common attachment dynamics at play for children and adults alike.
