Funding Support for Your Professional Development

Cost shouldn’t be a barrier to building new skills. Whether you’re a helping professional or an employer looking to invest in your team, there may be grants available to support your needs.

Explore the options below (Note: Grant availability varies throughout the year.)

For Individuals

Apply for Grants: Explore professional development grants through provincial or federal programs. Check resources like:

• Canada Job Grant

Up to $10,000 per employee

Employers across Canada can apply to subsidize employee training costs (2/3 covered)

• Canada-Manitoba Job Grant (CMJG)
 Up to $10,000 per employee
 Manitoba employers can apply for employee training reimbursement.

• Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG)
 Up to $10,000 per employee
 Ontario employers can apply to train current or new staff.

• Canada-Alberta Job Grant (CAJG)
 Up to $10,000–$15,000 per employee
 Alberta employers can access funding for employee upskilling.

• B.C. Employer Training Grant (ETG)
 Up to $10,000 per employee
 Supports skills training for employees in B.C.

• PHE Canada Empowerment Grants
 Varied funding amounts
 Professional development grants for in-service educators in health and physical education fields.
• NLCSW Professional Development Fund
 Varied funding amounts
 Available to social workers registered in Newfoundland and Labrador to attend courses and workshops.
• CASW/BMS Scholarship Fund
 Varied funding amounts
 Supports Canadian social workers attending conferences, workshops, and courses.
• Allied Health Professional Development Fund (AHPDF)
 Up to $1,500 per year
 For Ontario-based regulated health professionals (e.g., social workers, psychotherapists) to access professional development funding.

Local Employment Assistance Centers or workforce boards in your province (e.g. Alberta Works).
Employer Sponsorship: Speak to your employer about professional development funding. Many workplaces have training budgets to support growth.

For Indigenous Communities

Band Funding: Many councils allocate funds for education and professional development. Reach out to your band council to request funding for participation in the training.

Community-Wide Training: Request bringing our training to your community. Band councils can often arrange funding for group training sessions that benefit multiple members.
