Joyce is originally from the Whitefish Lake First Nation and is now a member of the Saulteaux First Nation. She has a Master of Clinical Social Work degree and is a Registered Social Worker with over 25 years of experience helping people within child welfare, education, and mental health settings. This experience has included front-line social work practice, as well as leadership positions in the roles of executive director and health director. As a trainer, she enjoys working with First Nations peoples and provides relevant and culturally sensitive trainings. Joyce believes that restoring Indigenous traditions and cultural knowledge is essential to any healing process. She incorporates both Western and traditional strategies in her workshops and takes a down-to-earth, explorative approach to training.
