Alan teaches CTRI workshops in the areas of restorative justice and violence prevention. He has been a restorative justice facilitator for close to 20 years, working on cases involving domestic violence, child sexual abuse, and serious violent crime. Alan also serves as a case consultant to facilitators working through particularly difficult cases. He has co-authored numerous academic papers on restorative justice and violence, clarifying the risks associated with restorative justice practice and offering guidance on how to make it safer for all involved. Alan believes in providing a compassionate and insightful voice when companioning with people as they navigate their way toward addressing harm and accountability. As a trainer, he has the unique ability to challenge people, while at the same time building their confidence and inspiring them to reach for the best possible approach.
