This workshop provides the fundamental understanding and skills required for working with people in a helping capacity. Participants will learn core skills in the areas of communication, listening, service coordination, ethics, diversity, and promoting helper resilience. These insights will help to reduce employee burnout and turnover while also improving service delivery.

This is an introductory level workshop intended for people in a wide variety of helping roles including social service and health care workers, social workers, support workers, school personnel.
Shelly is a Registered Social Worker and has been an energetic practitioner and educator in the field of domestic violence, suicide intervention, youth justice, child welfare, mental health, and homelessness for over 25 years. In addition to training with CTRI she has a private counselling practice where she focuses on wellness, difficult conversations, and healthy relationships. She believes that helping people work through difficult times requires a holistic approach to wellness and meaningful connection. Whether it’s through a mindfulness practice, strength base - person-centered approach Shelly meets individuals where they are at. As a facilitator, she is a warm, passionate and engaging presenter who uses examples and strategies that participants can bring directly into their work with others.
