Given the changes and challenges people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia experience, caregivers and helpers can face uncertainty in how to provide care, and often need to adjust their communication and support strategies. This webinar focuses on understanding the experience of dementia and increasing awareness of its impacts on individuals and families. Participants will review practical dementia care skills for improving quality of life and responding to problematic issues.

Each webinar is 60 minutes in length. Live webinars will each contain 60 minutes of instruction from the facilitator using visual powerpoint slides and then there will be 5-10 minutes at the end of the webinar when participants can ask questions directly to the instructor and hear feedback from them in realtime. On-demand webinars include no interactivity with the instructor.
Upon viewing the entire webinar, you will be prompted to take a quiz over the content, and then you will receive a participation certificate.

Wilma is a family therapist, former mental health nurse, and the editor of our Counselling Activities Workbook. She is also CTRI’s Content Curator and holds a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Certificate in Adult Education. Wilma has over 30 years of experience in mental health, primarily working with individuals and families impacted by severe and persistent mental illness. She also taught mental health and family nursing at Red River College. Wilma currently provides consultation, clinical support, and education for families, communities, and organizations. She is passionate about promoting recovery from the impact of mental illness and trauma in families. Wilma believes healing occurs within relationships, through therapeutic conversation. She values diversity and takes a strengths-based, holistic, and relational approach in her work.
