For those who work with youth, managing challenging behaviours that interfere with development, learning, or success can be both frustrating and exhausting. This webinar reviews challenging behaviours related to aggression, non-compliance, and attention-seeking, and will provide a framework for intervening with these behaviours. Guidelines for structuring interactions for positive outcomes will be given, and a coaching model to bring out the best in youth who exhibit challenging behaviour is provided.

Heather holds a Master of Social work degree based in Indigenous Knowledges and is a Registered Social Worker with nearly 25 years of experience in the helping field. She has spent much of her time working directly with children, youth, and families. In the first half of her career, Heather’s passion was working with youth of all genders (ages 11-24) that have been impacted by violence, sometimes with gang involvements, all forms of trauma (mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual), addictions, mental health, and with individuals living with a FASD. More recently, she has pivoted her focus, and her passion has become wholistic wellness for helping professionals. She believes that even in the thick of trauma and/or crisis, people can use relationships and laughter to work through these critical moments. Heather values the lives and stories of everyone she has the honour of meeting and walking with on their life path. She is an energetic and engaging facilitator who strives to find ways to build connections and relationships with everyone. Read blogs written by Heather here.
