Clinical Consultation

One of the ways counsellors learn most effectively is by exploring challenging clinical cases in an environment that is respectful and collaborative.

We can provide specialized clinical consultation for difficult cases or for those wanting to develop a particular aspect of their skill set.

Clinical Consulting

As counsellors, one of the ways we learn most effectively is by working with other clinicians in supervision and consultation. Exploring challenges in clinical cases, difficult work situations, and our own responses in an environment that is respectful and collaborative contributes greatly to all of our assessment and intervention skills.

CTRI Clinical Consultants conform to the highest ethical and best practice standards based on our designated code of ethics and our clinical guiding principles. Our approach to clinical practice incorporates a consideration of all aspects of a human being, integrating body, mind, spiritual, and social dimensions. We honour the diversity of beliefs and practices that make up individual value systems.

We recognize that the development of strategies for therapy and service delivery are continually evolving as learning and research advances. We build our approach to clinical consultation on the integration of the best research evidence relevant to the topic field, with both established and emerging practices. These are identified using the collective wisdom of clinical expertise and in consideration of the best fit for people and communities.

Our experienced clinical consultants are accessible and can meet in-person, via video conferencing, or over the phone. Depending on the needs of the agency, there are different ways we can approach clinical consulting work.

Clinical consulting can take the form of basic support, education, and consulting around cases, ethics, boundaries, or general counselling questions. We can arrange a consulting relationship over a defined short period of time, or support a team of clinicians on a regular basis.

Specialized Clinical Consulting

We can provide specialized clinical consultation for those working on developing a particular part of their skill set. An example would be a counselling agency facing a growing need to support those struggling with gender and sexual identity issues, self-injury behaviour, or eating disorders.

We can provide a trained specialist in a particular field to offer education on evidence-based therapeutic approaches and constructive feedback around interventions.
